Frequently Asked
Questions about MyDetect™
MyDetect™
will detect words and phrases from a
dictionary, either entered at the keyboard or stored in files. It will also detect
pornographic images in applications and embedded
attachments as they are accessed. The
sensitivity threshold for detecting pornographic
images can be set to a value of between 0 - 100.
The detection mechanism works on network drives,
local drives and removable media.
What happens to
violations?
Every time a violations is detected on a client, the central server
is informed and a screenshot of the client screen is taken.
Administrators can optionally elect to send a
notification message to the user, close the
offending application, log the user off or send an
email when a violation is detected.
Why are violations not being
generated?
Before a user can generate
violations, a dictionary must be assigned to a group
that the user is a member of. An easy way to
do this is by assigning a dictionary to the "Other"
group from the MyDetect admin tool.
What is the MyDetect™ Admin tool
password?
This is currently set to be
MYDETECT + the time hour of day (in 24 hour format).
For example:-
-
At 1pm the password is
MYDETECT13
-
At midnight the password
is MYDETECT0
Is the client/server
communications encrypted?
Yes. MyDetect™ uses an encryption
mechanism to transfer data between client
and server, with a unique key being generated at the
start of every communication.
Does MyDetect™ block access to
websites?
No. Unlike traditional
blocking software, MyDetect™ does not attempt to
block access to sites, it will just record the
event. The system administrator can setup a
rule to run on the client that can display a warning
message, or forcibly close the application if
desired. For blocking, see
MyDetect™
Proxy.
